The Labour Support Chair
Helping every woman, everywhere !
The Labour Support Chair came to be, when Colette Lamberton midwife for 30 years teamed up with an aspiring engineer to bring Colette’s big idea to fruition.
The Idea is set to revolutionise the experience of all women during the first stage of labour.
Colette has always strived to make the birthing process as comfortable and safe as possible for both women and their families.
This passion and her extensive experience not just as a midwife but as an Antenatal educator and IVF Australia clinical research associate, made her uniquely positioned to identify a need in the birthing room.
Colette has regularly look after women in all stages of pregnancy from the planning stage through to labour and postnatal care.
This gave Colette a wholistic view of their desires, fears and ambition.
Labour is a physiological and psychological challenge for women. Positioning, mobility and gravity has historical wisdom, and is strongly backed by research, providing evidence of improved birth outcomes for the mother and baby.
Colette knows these benefits, and encourages women to adopt multiple positions and activities during their labour.
However, women often find it physically and emotionally exhausting to continue to mobilise during the sometimes lengthy first stage of labour.
The challenging first stage of labour, needs to be matched with supportive, custom designed furniture, environments, knowledge and care.
There was nothing available that achieved this.
Hence the need for “The Labour support Chair” was born.
